Cumberland beats Blue Mountain Christian Women in tennis match

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Blue Mountain Christian Women lost its first match of the season Friday, falling 4-3 to Cumberland (Tenn.).

The Lady Toppers dropped the doubles point but responded with three singles victories. Camila Mordiz won on Court 1, 6-4, 6-0. Lina Cetina secured a win on Court 3, 6-4, 0-6, 13-11, and Nami Malyaporn earned a victory on Court 6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

Blue Mountain Christian’s three doubles teams all lost, and Eugenia Ramos retired on Court 2. Valeria Manquillo and Lucia Rodriguez Garcia also dropped matches in singles play. The team was scheduled to face Christian Brothers on the same day, but the match was canceled after Christian Brothers withdrew due to illness.

The Lady Toppers, now 2-1, are scheduled to return to action Saturday, February 21, against Rhodes College in Memphis at 1 p.m. CT.
