Chambers, Conrad Earn GSC Indoor Track Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference announced its Men’s Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards presented by Athletic Solutions for performances during Jan. 19-Feb. 1, 2026.

Schyler Chambers of Mississippi College was named Freshman of the Week after finishing sixth in two events at the Pittsburg State Invitational. He posted a personal best of 6.91 meters (22 feet, 8 inches) in the long jump, ranking third among GSC leaders. Chambers also jumped 14.80 meters (48 feet, 6.75 inches) in the triple jump. This is his second weekly award of the season, having previously been recognized on Jan. 14, according to the conference.

Steven Conrad, also of Mississippi College, earned Field Athlete of the Week honors. He threw a personal best 17.57 meters (57 feet, 7.75 inches) in the weight throw at the Pittsburg State Invitational, finishing sixth. His mark ranks second among GSC leaders this season. This is Conrad’s first weekly award of the indoor season, the conference said.

In addition to the weekly awards, the conference highlighted other nominees, including Lee’s Edimo Nintereste, who finished 10th overall in the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic with a time of 13:53.31 in the 5,000 meters. Mississippi College’s Steven Conrad was also among the nominees for Field Athlete of the Week, and Lee’s Schyler Chambers was among the other freshmen considered for Freshman of the Week.

The GSC has recognized multiple athletes throughout the indoor season, with previous winners including Wes Egalite of UAH and Malik Turner of UAH in January, and Evan Wrights of Mississippi College in late January.
