Blue Mountain Women’s Tennis Falls to No. 5 William Carey at SSAC Roundup
The Blue Mountain Christian University women’s tennis team wrapped up play at the SSAC Roundup in Montgomery, Alabama, on Saturday with a 7-0 loss to No. 5 William Carey. The NAIA powerhouse proved to be a tough opponent, but the Toppers gained valuable experience against one of the top programs in the nation, according to school officials.
In doubles action, Camila Mordiz and Eugenia Ramos competed on the top court, falling 6-1. Lina Cetina and Lucia Garcia played on the second court but were defeated 6-2. Nami Malyaporn and Kiersten Terris also fought hard before dropping their match, 6-2.
In singles play, Mordiz faced a difficult opponent and was defeated 6-0, 6-0. Cetina played well but lost 6-2, 6-1. Garcia fell 6-0, 6-0, while Malyaporn was edged out 3-6, 6-1. Ramos and Terris both lost by 6-0, 6-1 margins.
The match marked the end of the Toppers’ participation in the SSAC Roundup. Blue Mountain continues its conference schedule this season, officials said.
