Blue Mountain Women’s Tennis Falls to Missouri Baptist at Home
The Blue Mountain Christian University women’s tennis team hosted Missouri Baptist on Tuesday afternoon, falling 5-2. Several matches went to tight tiebreakers, highlighting the competitiveness of the contest.
The doubles point was fiercely contested. Camila Mordiz and Eugenia Ramos lost a 7-4 tiebreaker, as did Lina Cetina and Lucia Garcia. Nami Malyaporn and Kiersten Terris lost their match 6-1. Despite the setbacks, the Toppers showed resilience in singles play.
Mordiz secured a straight-sets victory, 6-2, 6-4, to earn one of the team’s two wins. Ramos also earned a point for Blue Mountain after a three-set battle that was decided in a tiebreaker. Cetina, Garcia, Malyaporn, and Terris all competed hard but were unable to secure victories. Malyaporn’s match was particularly close, pushing her opponent to a third set before falling short.
The loss provides valuable experience as Blue Mountain prepares for conference play, which begins Thursday with a match in Montgomery, Alabama.
