Blue Mountain Track and Field Excels at Rhodes Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Blue Mountain Christian University’s track and field team showcased strong performances at the Rhodes Invitational over the weekend. The meet featured competitors from NAIA, NCAA Division II, and Division III programs.

Ella Shepherd led the way for the Toppers with a first-place finish in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase. She crossed the finish line in 12:18.57, earning the event title, according to meet results.

On the women’s side, Kaedyn Wilson finished eighth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 19:28.10. Jorja Kate Mooneyhan contributed a 10th-place showing in the 800 meters (2:37.13) and competed in the mile, finishing 18th (5:56.32). Ruth Hutchinson placed 13th in the 800 meters (2:44.50) and 21st in the mile (6:02.54). Leah Montgomery completed the mile in 6:59.09. The women’s 4×800-meter relay team of Hutchinson, Mooneyhan, Wilson, and Shepherd finished fourth with a time of 10:19.72.

For the men’s team, Jonah Barnhardt led in the 5,000 meters with a seventh-place finish in 15:32.44. Braxton Enzor posted a strong effort in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing fourth in 12:03.67. In middle-distance events, Lukas Dykes was ninth in the 800 meters (2:04.84), followed by JaKarien Perry in 10th (2:05.64) and Samuel Hopper in 13th (2:12.32). Dykes also led the men’s mile with a time of 4:40.50.

The men’s 4×800-meter relay team of Dykes, Hopper, Perry, and Barnhardt finished fifth overall with a time of 8:36.51. In field events, Jared Mooneyhan placed fifth in the pole vault, clearing 3.20 meters (10-6). Other notable performances included Erick Flores, Noah Harrington, and John Thomas Draper in the men’s 5,000 meters, while Abby Laney competed in the women’s discus, recording a throw of 27.61 meters.

Blue Mountain will build on these results as the outdoor season continues in the coming weeks, according to the school’s athletic department.
