Blue Mountain Tennis Falls to Missouri Baptist in Final Prep Before SSAC Play
The Blue Mountain Christian University men’s tennis team faced Missouri Baptist on Tuesday in New Albany, Mississippi, falling 7-0. Despite the defeat, the Toppers showed resilience with several close matches as they prepare for upcoming conference play.
In doubles action, Adriaan Engelbrecht and Luis Lainer narrowly lost 6-4 at the top spot. Caleb Rogers and Craig Blevins also battled hard but fell by the same 6-4 margin. Pablo Cruz and Kevin Kotzé rounded out doubles play, dropping their match 6-2.
In singles, Missouri Baptist swept all six matches. Lainer’s match was the closest, going to a tiebreaker before he lost 7-4. The other Toppers continued to compete but were unable to secure a point.
The match served as preparation for Blue Mountain as they shift focus to Southern States Athletic Conference play. The Toppers will travel to Montgomery, Alabama, on Thursday to begin conference competition.
