Blue Mountain Softball Sweeps ABAC as Harrison Breaks Stolen Base Record
Blue Mountain Christian University’s softball team secured two Southern States Athletic Conference victories Friday, sweeping Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College at the BMCU Sportsplex. The Toppers won Game One 8-1 and Game Two 5-0, improving to 2-2 in league play.
In the opener, Blue Mountain’s offense was prolific, collecting 14 hits. Mikaylah Fuqua went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Aspen Teague finished 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and a run. Anna Harrison added two hits, an RBI, and stole two bases. The team’s aggressive baserunning led to eight stolen bases, with Fuqua and Harrison each stealing three bases.
Madison Montgomery pitched a complete game, allowing one run on three hits with four strikeouts and no walks. In the second game, Blue Mountain again tallied 14 hits and shut out ABAC 5-0. Fuqua went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Teague also finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Harrison added two hits, a run scored, and stole a base, breaking the program’s single-season stolen base record with her 37th steal.
Neely Cooper pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing seven hits and striking out two. Lakyn Nichols contributed offensively with two hits and an RBI. Bre Ramsey also added an RBI, and Vaye Savage went 2-for-2 to provide a spark at the plate.
The Toppers’ successful day on the bases and strong pitching performances helped secure the sweep, boosting their league standings as they look ahead to upcoming matchups.
