Blue Mountain Men’s Tennis Falls to No. 6 William Carey at SSAC Roundup
Montgomery, Ala. — The Blue Mountain Christian University men’s tennis team concluded its play at the SSAC Roundup with a 7-0 loss to William Carey, which is tied for sixth in the latest NAIA Coaches Poll, according to the university.
The Toppers faced a tough challenge against one of the top programs nationally. Despite the defeat, the team gained valuable experience against a highly ranked opponent as conference play continues.
In doubles action, Adriaan Englebrecht and Luis Lainer fell 1-6 on the No. 1 court. Caleb Rogers and Craig Blevins lost 3-6 on the No. 2 court, while Pablo Cruz and Kevin Kotzé were defeated 0-6 on the No. 3 court.
In singles play, Englebrecht was competitive before falling 2-6, 3-6. Blevins lost 0-6, 1-6, and Rogers was defeated 0-6, 0-6. Kotzé lost 0-6, 0-6, and Lainer was defeated 2-6, 0-6. Juan Daniel Aravelo completed singles with a 0-6, 0-6 result.
The match marks the end of competition for Blue Mountain at the SSAC Roundup. The team now looks ahead to the remainder of its conference schedule.
