Blue Mountain Falls to Mobile at SSAC Roundup
Montgomery, Ala. — The Blue Mountain Christian University men’s tennis team faced the University of Mobile on Friday at the SSAC Roundup. The Toppers lost the match 6-1 but displayed effort throughout the lineup.
Blue Mountain secured a doubles victory on court three, where Pablo Cruz and Kevin Kotzé defeated their opponents 6-2. Adriaan Engelbrecht and Luis Lainer played a close match on the top court but lost 6-4, while Caleb Rogers and Craig Blevins also battled hard before falling 6-4 on court two.
In singles play, Engelbrecht earned the Toppers’ only point after his opponent retired due to injury. Cruz competed well but was defeated 6-3, 6-4. Blevins lost 6-1, 6-2, and Maj Langerholz was defeated 6-1, 6-2. Kotzé pushed his match to a tiebreaker before ultimately falling, and Lainer lost 6-3, 6-4 after a hard-fought effort.
Blue Mountain will continue competing at the SSAC Roundup, aiming to gain more experience against strong conference opponents, according to team officials.
