Blue Mountain Falls to Abraham Baldwin in SSAC Tennis Match

The Blue Mountain Christian men’s tennis team was defeated by Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in an SSAC conference match Tuesday in Montgomery, Alabama, according to school officials.

ABAC secured the doubles point by winning all three doubles matches. In the top doubles spot, Adriaan Engelbrecht and Luis Lainer lost 6-1 to their opponents. Maj Langerholz and Shriraam Anbanantan also fell 6-1 at No. 2 doubles, while Pablo Cruz and Kevin Kotzé dropped their match 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Engelbrecht provided one of the most competitive matches of the day. After splitting the first two sets, Engelbrecht narrowly lost a third-set tiebreaker 12-10. ABAC took the remaining singles points at Nos. 2 through 6. Pablo Cruz was defeated 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, and Craig Blevins lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Kevin Kotzé fell 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4, while Shriraam Anbanantan lost 6-0, 6-4 at No. 5. Luis Lainer was defeated 6-0, 7-5 at No. 6 singles.

The Toppers will continue SSAC conference play as they aim to improve in their next match, according to team officials.
