Blue Mountain Christian women’s tennis edges ABAC 4-3 in Montgomery

Montgomery, Ala. — The Blue Mountain Christian University women’s tennis team secured a 4-3 victory over Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in an SSAC match Tuesday in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Toppers took an early lead by winning the doubles point. Lucia Rodriguez Garcia and Lina Cetina defeated their opponents 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Camila Mordiz and Eugenia Ramos followed with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 doubles match featuring Kiersten Terris and Nami Malyaporn went unfinished.

In singles play, Blue Mountain Christian won three of the six matches to clinch the victory. Eugenia Ramos won easily in straight sets at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-0. Nami Malyaporn added a point with a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles. Kiersten Terris was awarded a win at No. 6 singles by default, which proved to be the match-winning point.

Abraham Baldwin College claimed victories at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 5 singles. However, Blue Mountain Christian’s doubles advantage and lineup depth helped secure the win, the school said.
