Blue Mountain Christian Women’s Tennis earns second straight win over Rust
HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian University women’s tennis team secured its second consecutive win Tuesday, defeating Rust College 5-2. The Lady Toppers moved to 2-0 on the season with the victory.
Blue Mountain Christian claimed the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 2. Camila Mordiz and Eugenia Ramos won 6-4 on Court 1, while Kiersten Terris and Valeria Manquillo took 6-1 on Court 2. Court 3 was decided by forfeit in favor of the Lady Toppers, with Lucia Rodriguez Garcia and Lina Cetina earning the point.
In singles play, Manquillo defeated her opponent 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 on Court 1. Ramos lost 4-6, 5-7 on Court 2, and Cetina posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory on Court 3. Rodriguez Garcia fell 1-6, 2-6 on Court 4. Nami Malyaporn won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, on Court 5. Terris won by forfeit on Court 6.
Blue Mountain Christian is scheduled to travel to Memphis, Tenn., on Friday, Feb. 13, for a doubleheader. The team will face Christian Brothers at 10 a.m. and Cumberland University at 1 p.m. CT.
