Blue Mountain Christian University Sweeps Point in Doubleheader to Open SSAC Play

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian University started conference play with a doubleheader sweep of Point, winning 10-3 and 8-2 at the BMCU Sportsplex.

In the first game, the Toppers jumped out early, scoring four runs in the first inning. Ross Polizzi drove in two runs with an RBI double, and Cody Presley added a sacrifice fly as BMCU took a 2-0 lead. Jarrett Morris and Yaidel Perez contributed RBI singles to extend the lead to 4-0 after one inning. The sixth inning proved pivotal, with Polizzi, Presley, Trace Roy, Perez, and Garret Lance all driving in runs to build a commanding lead.

Polizzi finished 4-for-4 with two RBIs, and Perez added three RBIs. Ryan Murphy earned the win, allowing three runs over six innings with four strikeouts. Christian Manness pitched the final inning to close out the game.

Later in the day, BMCU continued its offensive onslaught in the second game, taking an early 2-0 lead. Ethan Hirons sparked the offense with an RBI double and later stole home. In the fourth inning, Ross Polizzi’s walk and Cody Presley’s two-RBI single helped extend the lead. Jake Meilstrup contributed an RBI single in the fifth, and Polizzi added a two-run double as the Toppers pulled away.

On the mound, Benji Webb tossed a complete game, scattering six hits and striking out eight to secure the win. Point scored two runs in the sixth on an RBI double and a single, but BMCU maintained control and finished with the victory.

The doubleheader sweep marked a strong start for Blue Mountain Christian University in SSAC play, showcasing balanced hitting and solid pitching throughout the day.
