Blue Mountain Christian University falls to Freed-Hardeman in men’s tennis
Jackson, Tenn. — The Blue Mountain Christian University men’s tennis team competed against Freed-Hardeman University in a non-conference match, recording several strong individual performances despite falling in the team competition.
In doubles play, Adriaan Engelbrecht and Luis Lainer narrowly lost at the No. 1 position, dropping a 6-4 decision. Caleb Rogers and Craig Blevins also competed hard but fell 6-3. The Toppers found success at No. 3 doubles, where Pablo Cruz and Kevin Kotzé earned a 6-2 victory, giving Blue Mountain momentum heading into singles.
In singles action, Engelbrecht secured a straight-set win, 6-3, 6-4. Kotzé also contributed a point with a convincing 6-2, 6-3 victory. Cruz played a close match, narrowly falling 10-8 in a tiebreak after a tough battle. Luis Langerholz, Shiraam Anbanantan, and Rogers continued to compete hard against a challenging Freed-Hardeman lineup.
The Toppers will look to build on the positives from this matchup as they continue their season.
