Blue Mountain Christian tops Rust to finish regular season as No. 4 seed
NEW ALBANY, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian closed its regular season with a victory over Rust, using the match as a final tune-up ahead of the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Tournament. The Toppers earned the No. 4 seed in the postseason.
They set the tone early in doubles play, capturing two key wins. Camila Mordiz and Eugenia Ramos won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, while Nami Malyaporn and Kiersten Terris followed with a 6-3 victory. Blue Mountain Christian also claimed the third doubles point by default, as Rust did not have enough players to complete the lineup.
In singles, the Toppers continued their strong performance. Mordiz defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-0, and Ramos swept in a 6-0, 6-0 match. Lina Cetina added another point with a 6-4, 6-4 win. Rust secured points in the middle of the lineup, as Terris fell 4-6, 0-6 and Malyaporn lost a tight match in a 10-5 tiebreaker. Blue Mountain Christian also received a default win at the final singles position.
With the regular season complete, the Toppers now focus on the SSAC Tournament, where they will compete as the No. 4 seed, aiming for a deep postseason run.
