Blue Mountain Christian tops Brewton-Parker Christian in close road game
Mount Vernon, Ga. — Blue Mountain Christian women’s basketball earned a 69-66 victory over Brewton-Parker Christian on Tuesday evening in SSAC play. The Toppers improved to 10–9 overall and 5–6 in conference, while the Barons fell to 4–18 overall and 3–8 in league action.
The game was tightly contested from the start. BPCU took an early lead, but Blue Mountain responded with balanced offense and steady defense to stay close. Maddie Kirk and McKenzie Williams sparked the scoring for the Toppers, while Isabella Carlson helped manage the offense with strong ball movement.
Both teams exchanged runs in the first half, which ended with Blue Mountain holding a slim lead thanks to efficient shooting and disciplined play. The second half mirrored the intensity, with Brewton-Parker challenging on both ends. The Barons cut into the lead multiple times in the third and fourth quarters, but Blue Mountain answered each challenge with timely baskets, defensive stops, and rebounding.
Late free throws and composed decision-making helped the Toppers maintain their advantage in the final minutes. Maddie Kirk led all scorers with 17 points, also adding six rebounds and four assists. McKenzie Williams scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds, while Rebecca Walter contributed 12 points on efficient shooting. Carlson filled the stat sheet with eight rebounds, eight assists, and seven points, helping facilitate the offense.
Blue Mountain Christian is scheduled to play again Thursday at BMCU against Life University.
