Blue Mountain Christian Sweeps Faulkner in Doubleheader to Win Series

Montgomery, Ala. — Blue Mountain Christian baseball bounced back from a high-scoring loss to Faulkner to win the series with a doubleheader sweep over the Eagles this weekend.

The Toppers lost the opening game 16-9 but responded with dominant performances in Saturday’s doubleheader, winning 11-5 and 11-4.

In the second game, Blue Mountain used a seven-run second inning to seize control early. The offense featured a two-run double from Jake Meilstrup and a two-run home run from Cody Presley, who drove in three runs in the game. Presley and Meilstrup also contributed offensively, while Chris Matthews pitched a complete game to earn the win.

The Toppers carried momentum into the third game, jumping ahead early and breaking it open with a five-run fourth inning. RBIs from Yaidel Perez, Presley, and Jarrett Morris helped extend the lead. Presley also added a sacrifice fly later in the game, continuing his strong series. Ross Polizzi led at the plate with a 4-for-6 effort and an RBI, while Presley went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Perez added two RBIs, and Meilstrup scored twice as Blue Mountain totaled 11 runs again.

On the mound, Benji Webb pitched 8.1 innings, allowing four runs on five hits to earn the victory. Christian Maness closed out the game, securing the win with the final two outs. The sweep saw the Toppers compile 22 runs on 20 hits, demonstrating power and discipline at the plate and controlling the game tempo.

Blue Mountain Christian’s resilience after the Game 1 loss highlighted their ability to regroup and execute, earning a key series win over Faulkner.
