Blue Mountain Christian splits doubleheader with dominant nightcap win

Blue Mountain Christian split a doubleheader Tuesday at Topper Field. The Toppers fell 10-4 in the first game before bouncing back with a 16-0 victory in the nightcap against Rust.

In the opening game, Blue Mountain collected nine hits and maintained offensive rhythm throughout. Ross Polizzi led the team with three hits and three runs scored. Trace Roy added two hits and drove in two runs, while Garret Lance hit a solo home run. Cody Pressly also recorded two hits as the Toppers applied consistent pressure. Despite the offensive production, Rust capitalized on key innings to build a lead, finishing with 12 hits.

The second game was a different story. Blue Mountain Christian responded with a dominant performance, overwhelming Rust in five innings with a 16-0 run-rule victory. The Toppers scored in four of the five innings, breaking the game open in the fifth.

Cody Pressly had a historic night at the plate, launching three home runs and driving in five RBIs. Polizzi added two RBIs and a home run, while Reise Thomas contributed two hits and scored three times. Jarret Morris and Spencer Wilson also provided key offensive depth.

On the mound, JD Klug was outstanding, tossing a complete-game shutout. He struck out 12, allowed only four hits, and did not give up a run. His performance kept Rust from gaining offensive momentum and secured the victory for Blue Mountain.

After a competitive first game, the Toppers showed resilience, offensive power, and strong pitching in the nightcap. The team continues to build momentum as the season progresses.
