Blue Mountain Christian softball sweeps Williams Baptist in home opener
Blue Mountain, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian softball opened its season with a commanding doubleheader sweep of Williams Baptist on Tuesday. The Toppers won 4-0 and 7-2, controlling both games from start to finish, according to school officials.
In the first game, Blue Mountain Christian scored two runs in the first inning and added two more in the third to secure a shutout. Maryn Macri hit a two-run home run, while Kelsey Camp added a two-RBI single to extend the lead. Anna Harrison scored twice as the Toppers capitalized on early opportunities. Neely Cooper pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and no runs to earn the win.
The second game saw Blue Mountain Christian again use offensive bursts to gain control. The Toppers scored three runs in the second inning, added another in the fourth, and broke the game open with a three-run sixth. Harrison led the offense with three RBIs, and Macri and Camp each drove in two runs. Harrison also finished a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and stole four bases in the second game, totaling six stolen bases across both contests.
Jana Shaw earned the win in the nightcap, pitching seven innings and allowing three hits and two runs. She kept Williams Baptist from mounting any sustained rallies. Overall, the team demonstrated balanced play with power hitting, smart baserunning, and solid pitching. The sweep signals the Toppers are gaining momentum early in the season, setting a positive tone for their upcoming schedule.
