Blue Mountain Christian dominates Stillman in doubleheader sweep
Tuscaloosa, Ala. — Blue Mountain Christian opened its doubleheader with an 11-0 win over Stillman College, dominating on both sides of the ball. The Toppers scored seven runs in the second inning and added insurance runs in the fourth and fifth, while limiting Stillman to two hits, according to team sources.
Aspen Teague led BMCU with three RBIs and multiple hits. Maryn Macri went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, including a triple. Kelsey Camp contributed two hits and an RBI. Rachel Rommel also added two RBIs. The team showcased aggressive base running, stealing multiple bases, the sources said.
On the mound, Bri Langley pitched a complete game shutout, allowing only two hits and striking out four. Her performance set the tone for the team’s defensive effort, sources added.
In the second game, BMCU continued its offensive surge, winning 12-1 against Stillman. The team scored in every inning after the second, with key multi-run frames in the fourth, fifth, and sixth. Stillman’s lone run came late in the sixth inning, but it was not enough to close the gap.
Bre Ramsey led the offense with two RBIs and multiple hits. Anna Harrison added two RBIs, and Gail Wisher drove in a run with an extra-base hit, including a triple. Vaye Savage delivered a pinch-hit triple that scored three runs in the sixth inning. Aspen Teague, Karen Wisher, and Chloe Shelton also contributed key hits and RBIs, helping BMCU tally 14 hits overall.
Jana Shaw pitched six effective innings, allowing just one run, the team said. The Toppers are scheduled to host Williams Baptist on Tuesday, the team confirmed.
