Blue Mountain Christian completes four-game sweep of Williams Baptist
Walnut Ridge, Ark. — Blue Mountain Christian completed a four-game series sweep of Williams Baptist over the weekend, winning three straight games behind solid pitching and clutch hitting. The series concluded with victories in Games 2, 3, and 4.
Game 2 resumed Thursday morning after being suspended the previous day. The Toppers edged the Eagles 6–5 in 10 innings. Blue Mountain Christian totaled 11 hits, with Jake Meilstrup driving in two runs and Gavin Foley delivering a key RBI in the late innings. Jesse Hancock pitched three scoreless innings out of the bullpen to earn the win and keep Williams Baptist off the scoreboard in extras.
The momentum carried into Friday’s doubleheader opener, where Blue Mountain Christian shut out Williams Baptist 5–0. Chris Matthews pitched seven scoreless innings, striking out seven and limiting the Eagles’ offensive opportunities. Offensively, the Toppers benefited from RBI hits by Cody Presley, Trace Roy, Jarret Morris, and Garrett Lance, who drove in two runs.
The series wrapped up with Game 4, a high-scoring 13–8 victory for Blue Mountain Christian. The Toppers pounded out 11 hits and scored in multiple innings. Meilstrup homered and drove in three RBIs, while Reise Thomas contributed a triple and Foley added two RBIs. The team maintained a lead through consistent scoring and held on late to complete the sweep.
With the series win, Blue Mountain Christian will return home next weekend to host nationally ranked Georgia Gwinnett College.
