Belhaven Softball Sweeps LeTourneau in Opening Day Doubleheader
Jackson, Miss. — Belhaven softball started the 2026 season with a doubleheader sweep of LeTourneau on Saturday at Jim McLeod Field. The Blazers won the first game 7-3 and secured a 5-4 walk-off victory in the second game. Belhaven improves to 2-0 overall.
In the opener, Emma Moore drove in the first run with an RBI double in the first inning. The Blazers added single runs in the second and third innings to lead 3-0. Gracey Harbour earned the win in relief, pitching three scoreless innings after Macy Funderburk started the game. Belhaven broke the game open in the sixth with four runs, highlighted by a two-run home run from Melissa Lopera. LeTourneau scored three runs in the seventh, but AR Sharp closed out the game to earn the save. The team totaled 11 hits, including doubles from Moore, Ellie Williamson, Kaleigh Steverson, and Maddie Bruner.
In game two, Belhaven rallied from an early 3-0 deficit. The Blazers scored four runs in the fourth inning, with Liberty Gillihan delivering a two-run single and Maryanna Guy adding an RBI single to take a 4-3 lead. LeTourneau tied the game in the seventh, but Reagan Bryan led off the bottom half with a double and scored on a passed ball. Melissa Lopera then drove in the winning run with a walk-off single down the left-field line. Karley Rouse pitched 6.1 innings, with AR Sharp earning the win in relief. Gillihan finished with two RBIs, and Lopera’s hit sealed the victory.
