Belhaven Softball Sweeps Doubleheader at Spring Games, Extends Winning Streak to Nine

The Belhaven softball team completed a perfect 6-0 run at the Spring Games in Bartow, Florida, with back-to-back victories Saturday. The Blazers defeated Lake Forest 11-1 in five innings and blanked SUNY Fredonia 13-0 in five innings, including their first no-hitter since May 2024, according to team sources.

In the opener, Belhaven broke a 1-1 tie with a four-run third inning and added six more runs in the fourth to secure the run-rule win. Key contributors included Maddie Bruner, who drove in four runs, and Gracey Harbour, who pitched four innings, allowing one run on four hits. The win marked the team’s ninth consecutive victory, extending its streak.

The second game featured a dominant pitching performance as the Blazers threw their first no-hitter since last May. They scored 13 runs on 16 hits, with Laura Beth Nesmith and AR Sharp combining for 10 strikeouts over five innings. Offensively, Melissa Lopera led with two hits and three RBIs, while Emma Moore contributed two hits and two runs scored.
