Belhaven beats Owls baseball 6-3 in non-conference game
PEARL, Miss. — The University of Southern Mississippi at Pearl baseball team lost its non-conference game to Belhaven University 6-3 at Trustmark Park. The Owls dropped to 3-5 overall with the loss, their third straight and second against the Blazers this season.
Senior Zach Johnson accounted for all three of MUW’s runs. He hit a two-run home run in the first inning with Chase Marshall on base, marking his first round-tripper of 2026. Johnson also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning, bringing home Baron Brack.
Belhaven scored four runs in the meantime and added two more in the bottom of the eighth for the final score. Brack and senior leadoff hitter Matthew Windham each had multi-hit games; Windham was 2-for-5 with a double.
Starting pitcher Campbell McCluney pitched five innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs. He struck out four and walked five, earning a no-decision. Josh Mackey, the second pitcher for the Owls, gave up seven hits and four earned runs over 2.1 innings. Will Carter pitched two-thirds of an inning without allowing a hit.
