Audrey Gogniat Wins NCAA Air Rifle Title as Ole Miss Finishes Third
Columbus, Ohio — Audrey Gogniat captured her second consecutive NCAA air rifle individual title Saturday, helping No. 5 Ole Miss rifle team finish third overall at the NCAA Championships at the Covelli Center.
The Rebels scored a 4,738 aggregate, tying their program record and marking their best finish since the 2020-21 season, when they also placed third. First-year head coach Will Shaner led the team to its first NCAA smallbore title on Friday and now to its best overall team finish in program history.
Gogniat made history by shooting her fourth career perfect 600 in air rifle, tying Ole Miss legend Lea Horvath for the most in program history. She is the second woman and third student-athlete overall to achieve four perfect scores at the NCAA level. Gogniat also repeated as NCAA champion after a dramatic final round, overcoming a two-point deficit to Nebraska’s Katlyn Sullivan and outshooting West Virginia’s Griffin Lake on the final shot.
Her performance helped Ole Miss narrowly miss setting a new program record in air rifle, with three teammates—Jordan de Jesus, Regan Diamond, and Gracie Dinh—each firing a 594, contributing to the team’s total of 2,382. West Virginia won the team title with a 4,748 aggregate, tying the NCAA all-time record, while TCU finished second with 4,741.
The Rebels capped their season with a 10-2 record, a team title in smallbore, and Gogniat’s individual championship. Ole Miss ended the year with a program-best 4,731.1 average in aggregate scoring, never dropping below 4,700 points. Gogniat’s standout performance and the team’s historic finish highlight Ole Miss’s successful season in collegiate rifle.
