Auburn Montgomery defeats Delta State 5-2 in women’s tennis

The Delta State University women’s tennis team lost to Auburn Montgomery 5-2 on Friday afternoon in Montgomery, Alabama. The Warhawks swept the doubles point with victories on all three courts, including 6-1 and 6-3 decisions at the top two positions and a 6-3 win at No. 3.

In singles play, the Lady Statesmen earned wins at No. 2 and No. 4. Amelia Ciesielczyk won her match at No. 2 in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Anastasiia Iakovlieva secured a three-set victory at No. 4, winning 6-2, 6-9, 11-9 in a super-tiebreak.

AUM clinched the match with wins at the remaining courts. Trinity Ly lost at No. 1, 6-2, 6-4, and Yasmina Mayer fell at No. 3, 6-3, 6-3. Lena Kuehn was defeated at No. 5, 6-4, 6-0, while Angie Moreno extended her match to a third-set tiebreak before losing 6-4, 5-7, 10-7 at No. 6.

Delta State will return to action Saturday with a match against Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama.
