Arkansas beats Mississippi State 88-68; Coach Jans discusses team struggles
Mississippi State fell to No. 21 Arkansas 88-68 Saturday, with coach Chris Jans highlighting difficulties in containing the Razorbacks’ length and athleticism. Jans acknowledged the challenge of facing a team with significant size and quickness, noting the difficulty in adjusting on the court.
Jans said the team’s biggest issue this season has been point-of-attack defense. He explained that the Bulldogs struggle to guard the basketball consistently, allowing opponents to get into the paint and break down the defense through rotations.
“Too many times, the offense gets where they want to go,” Jans said. “Getting that ball in the heart of the defense breaks down our scheme and gives the offense more options.”
The coach emphasized the importance of maintaining confidence and effort in practice to improve. Despite the setbacks, Jans remains optimistic about the team’s ability to improve and prepare for upcoming games, including a matchup against Tennessee.
Mississippi State’s next challenge is to stay unified and keep working toward better performances in conference play, Jans said.
