Alcorn State’s Nick Woodard Selected for HBCU All-Star Game
INDIANAPOLIS — Alcorn State men’s basketball player Nick Woodard has been selected to play in the Fifth Annual HBCU All-Star Game, set for Sunday, April 5, at 2 p.m. EST. The game will be held at Corteva Coliseum on the Indiana State Fairgrounds in conjunction with the NCAA Men’s Final Four weekend.
The event features top HBCU athletes from programs across the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Southwestern Athletic Conference, Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, as well as independent schools such as Tennessee State, Hampton, and North Carolina A&T. The showcase highlights the excellence, culture, and growing prominence of Black college basketball while attracting professional scouts and fans.
Travis L. Williams, founder and CEO of HBCU All-Stars LLC, said the game continues to demonstrate the importance of HBCUs and provides exposure for talented student-athletes pursuing professional careers. Williams emphasized that the event celebrates the legacy and impact of HBCU athletics.
Woodard, a 6-foot-7, 210-pound senior from Oglethorpe, Georgia, transferred from Stony Brook prior to the 2025-26 season. He finished the season fourth on his team with 275 points and third with 134 rebounds. The forward shot 40.2% from the field and 30.8% from three-point range, making 104 three-pointers. He also recorded 19 blocked shots, second on the team.
The 2026 HBCU All-Star Game will feature two teams honoring NBA legends Bob Dandridge and Sam Jones. Team Dandridge will include players from the MEAC, SIAC, and independent schools, while Team Jones will feature athletes from the SWAC, CIAA, and independent schools.
