Alcorn State Hosts Texas Southern for White Out Game Saturday
Alcorn State men’s basketball team will host Texas Southern on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Davey L. Whitney Complex in Lorman, Mississippi. The game will serve as the program’s White Out Game, encouraging fans to wear white to boost home energy against the SWAC opponent, according to school officials.
The Braves are coming off their first conference win last Saturday at Alabama A&M and are seeking to build momentum in league play. They are averaging 65.3 points per game and making 7.5 three-pointers per contest this season. Shane Lancaster leads the team with 11.7 points per game while shooting 52.3 percent from the field and 55.0 percent from beyond the arc.
Tycen McDaniels contributes 9.3 points and leads the team with 4.4 rebounds per game. Jameel Morris averages 9.1 points and leads in assists, providing steady guard play. Davian Williams and Nick Woodard add over 16 points combined per game, offering perimeter scoring options. Defensively, the Braves average 7.7 steals and 3.8 blocks per game, with Williams and Morris among the team leaders in steals.
Alcorn State aims to improve rebounding and reduce second-chance opportunities as conference play continues. The Lady Braves, currently 1-2 in SWAC play and 2-13 overall, will also face Texas Southern at 3 p.m. Saturday at the same venue.
