Alabama women’s tennis beats Alcorn 4-0 on road trip
Tuscaloosa, Alabama — Alcorn State’s women’s tennis team finished a three-match road trip with a 4-0 loss to Alabama on Saturday at the Roberta A. Baumgardner Tennis Facility.
The Braves (3-6) faced their second Southeastern Conference opponent in as many days after falling to Mississippi State 4-0 on Friday in Starkville. Alabama (5-0) secured the doubles point by sweeping the No. 2 and No. 3 courts, with the No. 1 doubles match between Amelia Tatafu and Hana Bajramovic unfinished as the hosts led 5-1.
Alabama also claimed victories on courts two and three in doubles, with Addison Bowman and Amina Salibayeva beating Taylor Briffa and Katherine Grados 6-0, and Klara Milicevic and Maria Andrienko defeating Zoe Crimmel and Oihane Villanueva Lopez 6-0. The Braves’ doubles duo at the top spot was leading 5-1 when the match was halted.
In singles play, the Crimson Tide extended their lead with a 6-0, 6-0 win by Karla Bartel over Oihane Villanueva Lopez at No. 4. Alabama’s Amina Salibayeva defeated Briffa 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5, while Mary Sidelnyk sealed the match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Katherine Grados at No. 6.
