Alabama beats Ole Miss 93-74 in SEC game

Oxford, Miss. — The Ole Miss men’s basketball team held a lead for much of the first half but was overwhelmed late as Alabama pulled away for a 93-74 victory Wednesday night at the SJB Pavilion.

Ole Miss (11-13, 3-8 SEC) started strong with a 5-0 run but Alabama (17-7, 7-4 SEC) responded with a 6-0 streak within the first three minutes. The game was closely contested, with Ole Miss holding a 22-20 lead with 12:43 remaining in the first half.

The Crimson Tide managed to take a narrow 32-30 lead at halftime after a late basket and a blocked shot by Zach Day kept the game within one possession. Alabama’s defense limited Ole Miss to their lowest first-half point total of the season, holding the Rebels to 32 points and 25% shooting on offense.

In the second half, Alabama quickly extended its lead, with a 51-38 advantage with 13:38 remaining. Ole Miss tried to rally, but Alabama remained in control until the final whistle. The Rebels will face Mississippi State on Saturday at 5:30 p.m., televised on ESPN2.

AJ Storr led Ole Miss with 27 points, tying his season high, while Eduardo Klafke nearly posted his first career double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. The Rebels’ shooting struggles continued in the second half, and Alabama’s offense was efficient throughout the game.
