Rebels own longest non-conference win streak in college basketball
Nov 20, 2024-The longest non-conference winning streak in the country belongs to the Ole Miss Rebels, with a 17-game run dating back to the start of the 2023-24 season. Highlighted by a 13-0 undefeated performance in last year’s non-conference calendar, this year’s squad has kept the victories rolling in with a 4-0 start to the season.
Under second-year head coach Chris Beard, the Rebels followed up a 17-point win over No. 24 Illinois in their exhibition with home wins over Long Island and Grambling State. The team then defeated South Alabama in their annual “Throwback Game in the Tad Pad” before taking down Colorado State in a neutral contest in Southaven, 84-69 at the Landers Center.
Among their 17-game streak outside the SEC are strong victories over eventual NCAA Final Four team NC State by 20 points, a battle with Memphis in a crowded SJB Pavilion, and wins over “Power Five” programs like UCF, California, and Colorado State.
