Northeast Mississippi and Wabash Valley Play to 2-2 Draw in Softball Encounter

In a tightly contested softball game held in Booneville, Mississippi, Northeast Mississippi Community College and Wabash Valley College finished in a 2-2 tie. The game saw a combination of strong offensive performances and resilient pitching from both sides.

The Tigers struck early in the second inning, with Bailey Houston drawing two walks and Adin Shelton driving in three runs on two hits, including a home run. Shelton’s power at the plate proved crucial, as he also contributed a two-run homer in the sixth inning to extend Northeast Mississippi’s lead to 12-3. Sophie Gant added to the Tigers’ offensive firepower with a home run in the sixth inning, producing two RBIs. In total, Northeast Mississippi amassed eight hits, led by Shelton who finished with one hit and three RBIs, and Sophie Gant with a home run and two RBIs.

On the mound, Sophie Gant pitched five innings for the Tigers, striking out three and allowing just two runs on seven hits. Emma Abrams closed out the game with one scoreless inning, securing the tie for Northeast Mississippi. Wabash Valley’s Ripley Anderson and Graci Hines combined for 5.0 innings pitched, but struggled with control, issuing nine walks and allowing eight earned runs. Wabash Valley managed seven hits in the game, with Darian Dix and J. Vincent each contributing a hit and an RBI.

The game featured notable performances including Leah Walkerss, who scored three runs on two hits and drew a walk. AB McKay also contributed offensively with a solo home run in the sixth inning and an RBI, while Tatum Berry and Kendall Bragg each added hits and runs. Despite the efforts from Wabash Valley, the game remained tied through the final inning, showcasing the competitive nature of this non-conference matchup.
