Dalton State tops Blue Mountain in SSAC basketball game
Dalton, Georgia — The Blue Mountain Christian Toppers suffered a 103-68 loss to the Dalton State Roadrunners in a Southern States Athletic Conference game Saturday afternoon.
Dalton State set the tone from the start, applying pressure and pushing the pace. The Roadrunners forced Blue Mountain into quick decisions and disrupted their offensive flow with energetic defense and balanced scoring. They shot efficiently from beyond the arc and scored in transition, maintaining a comfortable lead at halftime.
After halftime, the Toppers increased their intensity. Esrael Yant scored 17 points, hitting three three-pointers and dishing three assists. Gavin Shannon contributed 13 points and seven rebounds, battling inside. Kam Carter facilitated the offense with 10 points and five assists, while Jonathan Baker added 10 points.
Despite their efforts, Blue Mountain struggled to cut into Dalton State’s lead. The Roadrunners responded to each run with timely baskets and defensive stops. The Toppers finished shooting 39.4% from the field and made eight three-pointers.
Blue Mountain returns to action Thursday against the Thomas Nighthawks at home.
