Coaching Change For NEMCC Women’s Basketball

Coaching Change at NEMCC

Booneville, MS – Northeast Mississippi Community College has announced that Head Coach Brenda Mayes and Assistant Kunshinge Sorrell-Howard have resigned as coaches of the women’s basketball program. Coach Mayes and Coach Sorrell-Howard led the team for seven seasons.

“We will always be thankful for the work that Brenda and Kunshinge did with our women’s basketball program,” said president Dr. Ricky Ford. “They will forever be cherished members of the Northeast family.”

Their best season was 2018, when the Lady Tigers won 18 games and the MACCC North Division Title. In all, they made five postseason births.

“The hard work and leadership shown by coach Mayes and coach Howard with the Lady Tiger basketball program has been greatly appreciated by myself and the entire athletic department,” said Northeast athletic director Kent Farris. “The players and their families were always their greatest concern.”
